TAPAwards Turbo Compressors Contract to Siemens
Baar,Switzerland. Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG (TAP) has awarded the contract for the supplyof six gas turbine turbo compressor units to Siemens AG. Half of theseitems will be installed in TAP’s compressor station near Kipoi, in Greece, andthe remaining half at TAP’s compressor station near Fier, in Albania.
Ian Bradshaw,Managing Director at TAP,said: “I want to thank all those companies who participated in this tenderinground. Following a rigorous evaluation and bidding process, Siemens wasselected for their expertise, know-how and robust safety track record inproviding highly reliable gas turbine turbo compressor units, which are anintegral piece of our pipeline.”
The turbo compressorscontract award concludes TAP’s pre-qualification process (launched in June 2014), followed by bid assessments from theshortlisted companies that met TAP’s rigorous pre-qualification criteria.

In April 2015, TAP awardedits first major contract, for the construction of access roads and bridges in Albania. In July 2015, TAPcompleted the tendering process for the supply of large diameter ball valves and actuators.

About theTrans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP)
TAP willtransport natural gas from the giant Shah Deniz II field in Azerbaijan toEurope. The approximately 870 km long pipeline will connect with the TransAnatolian Pipeline (TANAP) at the Turkish-Greek border at Kipoi, cross Greeceand Albania and the Adriatic Sea, before coming ashore in Southern Italy.
TAP’s routing canfacilitate gas supply to several South Eastern European countries, includingBulgaria, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia and others.TAP’s landfall in Italy provides multiple opportunities for further transportof Caspian natural gas to some of the largest European markets such as Germany,France, the UK, Switzerland and Austria.
TAP will promote theeconomic development and job creation along the pipeline route; it will be amajor source of foreign direct investment and it is not dependent on grants orsubsidies. With first gas sales to Georgia and Turkey targeted for late 2018,first deliveries to Europe will follow approximately in early 2020.
TAP’s shareholding iscomprised of BP (20%), SOCAR (20%), Statoil (20%), Fluxys (19%), Enagas (16%)and Axpo (5%).
